It is impossible not to consider Boffi's Minikitchen a visionary project for the years when it was created. A pioneering design that undoubtedly became the manifesto of a futuristic vision of living. In 1963, designer Joe Colombo envisioned a super-compact kitchen that, within just half a cubic meter, could include all the essential functions for a dining area: from food storage to preparation, cooking, and the storage of pots, even offering electrical energy access. The Boffi Minikitchen was a true manifesto of modernity, so revolutionary that it earned its designer, Joe Colombo, and Boffi prestigious international awards. It is still part of the permanent collection at the New York museum and other major museums worldwide. Boffi's Minikitchen is a complete unit on wheels, featuring everything a kitchen needs: a refrigerator, cooktop, storage compartments, drawers for pots and dishes for six people, a pull-out tray, sockets for small appliances, and cutting boards. In the 1993 reissue, Boffi updated the structure using 12 mm-thick white Corian®, a material with the same advantages as a stone countertop: heat-resistant, impervious to direct sunlight, and with a color that remains unchanged over time. Since 2007, the Minikitchen has also been produced in marine plywood, an outdoor version designed for open spaces. In 2024, for Boffi's 90th anniversary, the self-supporting structure was revisited. The lightweight and moisture-resistant marine plywood panel is now coated with Lasermat and comes in new colors: London Grey, Comodoro Green, Fes Blue, and Jaipur Red. The 360° swiveling castors, always a distinctive feature of the Minikitchen, are equipped with two locking brakes. With Boffi, every choice is designed to stand the test of time without compromise, starting from 1963. Boffi is not just about aesthetics but also about functionality and innovation built to last.
