Neal Peterson was born in 1980, in North Dakota, USA, is an American artist based in Minneapolis, whose work is influenced by his travels around the world. Peterson studied art and design at Minnesota State Moorhead (BA), the University of Minnesota Duluth (MFA) and East Tennessee State University (MA). He teaches at Minneapolis College of Art & Design.

In 2016, Peterson began creating large-scale collages of cities made up of original street photographs. Combining iconic architecture, natural elements, graffiti and more, his Urban Mandalas series for
Moooi Carpet Moooi Carpet captures the flowery and fractal nature of cities. With Buddhist art as inspiration, these kaleidoscopic microcosms represent the uniqueness and connectivity of a city to its people.
