Metric: An Essential Chair

Michael Anastassiades designed Metric with the intent of creating a lightweight seating piece characterized by an essential design and the clean formal lines typical of Nordic style. The structure features a rigorous, geometric design made of slender solid oak sections rendered strong and stable by dedicated reinforcement crossbars. Ergonomics are meticulously detailed: the seat is slightly tilted backward to encourage body alignment with the curved backrest, ensuring optimal comfort.

Metric: The Collection

The Metric chair collection comprises two models, with or without armrests. Ranging from the minimalist armchair-free version to the more welcoming model with armrests suitable for both dining rooms and studies, the collection is completed by a wider, lower lounge armchair. On display in our showroom, we feature the armchair version with armrests (SMR51B), black hide leather seat, and black brushed oak structure.

Michael Anastassiades' project brings a family of seating pieces characterized by visual lightness and precise construction to the collection, crafted entirely in wood or featuring an upholstered hide leather seat.

Michael Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades is a designer born in Cyprus and based in London. He trained as a civil engineer at Imperial College and subsequently specialized in industrial design at the Royal College of Art. He founded his own studio in London in 1994 and launched his eponymous brand in 2007, dedicated to lighting, furniture, objects, and jewelry. He has been a Royal Designer for Industry since 2015 and was awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 2020.
