Which version is right for your project? Urchina Light will be offered in four sizes and three light control systems. The choice depends on the installation point, ceiling height, and existing electrical system: ELV dimmer, DALI network, or Casambi wireless control. Urchina Light is a suspension lamp inspired by nature. The design originates from the shape of a sea urchin: a central core from which thin, slightly curved carbon rods radiate out, with glowing points at their tips. The structure occupies space radially, allowing the framework to remain readable even when the light is turned off.
Urchina combines functional concealed downlight within the central body with a softer uplight provided by the glowing radial structure that illuminates all around, including upwards. The collection is available in four versions: 90, 140, 180, and 300.

Urchina: From Sea Urchin to Suspended Light

The design by Roderick Vos draws inspiration from the anatomy of a sea urchin—a central core from which thin carbon fiber elements radiate outwards, gently curved. Light travels along the rods to the LED diffusers placed at the tips, transforming into a multitude of luminous points scattered across space like an explosion of fireworks.

Studio Roderick Vos

Studio Roderick Vos is a Dutch design studio founded by Roderick Vos and Claire Vos. Their research spans lighting, textiles, accessories, and furniture, combining materials, technology, and color. Urchina originally started as a lighting research project and was developed with Moooi as an indoor suspension lamp.
