Jan Armgardt is a German designer born in Celle in Germany in 1947, he studies Carpentry and Interior Design. In 1972 he opened the Jan Armgardt Design-Furniture and Conceptual Design Agency in Schondorf am Ammersee, but since 1967 he founded various small companies for the direct sale of his furniture: beedesign, Workshopdesign, Armgardt Zerlegbare Möbel (Knocked Down Furniture). Winner of over 40 international design awards for his projects, his activity is directed towards research and experimental design for the furniture industry, using cardboard, paper and regenerated raw materials.

This is accompanied by a constant and demanding didactic activity. In 1985 he designed the Armchair, Chaise Longue and Tattomi bed together with the German designer Ingo Maurer for De Padova, since 2011 he has been Mentor at the Ministry of Industry of the Indonesian government for the creation of innovation centers for furniture (following the example of the Innovation Center Lichtenfels, Germany). Since 2013, as part of the European programs for green conversion in Asia (Switch-Asia), he has been promoting the development of Indonesian wicker with PUPUK The Association for Avancement of Small Business.
