Receives a special mention in two contests sponsored by ADI and organized by Design Italia "2x1. New materials for Italian Design" (in collaboration with Osram, Altumax and Material Connection) with a perennial digital calendar; "The intelligence of the senses, surfaces-interface for the bathroom" (in collaboration with Teuco, Titan and Material Connexion) with a soft and bright tile. In April 2006 he took part in the "MINI DESIGN AWARD-The tailor-made city", an invitation-only competition reserved for the 100 best talented young Italians. His work is his passion, which is why when he designs he is focused on the needs of an end user, increasingly attentive to technical, functional, aesthetic but also symbolic and social aspects.
Manolo Bossi says of himself: "I like to say that I am the son of iron and glass artisan entrepreneurs. I acquired a training in the art of wood, moving from school workshops to cabinet making to my parents' workshop, experimenting and manipulating the material , always intrigued by the charm and meaning of doing things. I try to convey an idea through a few signs, a few colors: I love white and black, traditional materials and subtraction as a design method. I love pure shapes and draw inspiration from the 60s for their positivity. I love technology that for me must not always be exposed, but intrinsic to the project. I listen with pleasure to the silence and I consider myself "slow addict" in the most transversal sense of the term. I like to give shape to the materials. without forcing their nature, but gently following them, making their potential explicit. I hope to arouse curiosity and pleasure to those who benefit from my projects and why not, I hope they can r insult honest and intelligent, ........ better if intelligently honest.
