The Borea collection by B&B Italia outdoor is a refined furnishing solution ideal for terraces, gardens, and poolside areas of homes, private villas, but also hotels and Spas. The collection includes, besides the coffee tables, also tables, chairs, armchairs, sofas, the sun lounger, and a lounge bed. Lissoni explains that the Borea collection came about from rethinking how, as a child, he liked the idea of building airplanes but they came out wrong, meaning he made them too heavy, yet the idea of lightness always fascinated him. With B&B Italia, when the idea of designing a new outdoor furniture product began, the idea of lightness was the code: to make a light product halfway between an airplane and a bicycle. What mattered was perceiving the surrounding nature and having a dialogue with what is around you. The Borea collection and the coffee tables are born to be 95% sustainable; when they end their life, they will be recycled again and become something else, another car, another can, another sofa, or if you like, another airplane.
The Borea Coffee Tables have a round-section metal structure with sleek lines without signs of interruption like unsightly welds. The metal bending and curving processes adopt techniques typically used in the aeronautical sector, adapted to the world of outdoor furniture, to create an unmistakable collection. The glazed lava stone tops featured on the low tables accompany and complete the seating arrangements with refined design sophistication, in the finishes and shades of Ocean Blue, Clay, or Sage. The stone for the tops comes from Mount Etna, is then worked into large glazed slabs; the vitrified surface is obtained from recycled glass from television and computer screens, which is then applied to the stone through an exclusive manufacturing process. The coffee tables are offered in three diameter sizes Ø 42.5, Ø 62.5, Ø 88 cm and two rectangular sizes 121x105cm and 162x105 cm, both 32cm high. The Borea coffee tables offer multiple support solutions and play with shapes, sizes, and materials. To protect them from the elements during months of non-use, a waterproof cover sheet in PES fabric is available.
