Porro Origata: Bench and Console as Sculptures

The bench and console collection designed by Nao Tamura for Porro is a project born from a single sheet of 6 mm aluminium that is cut, folded and assembled using a dedicated joint with exposed screws, maximising the use of material and minimising waste — just as in the making of traditional kimonos. The result is a monolithic object, light in appearance, that combines minimalist geometry and pop sensibility thanks to Porro's palette of 32 gloss colours.

From Kimono to Design: the Philosophy of Origata

In Japanese, "Ori" means fold and "Gata" means form: "folding to give shape". The collection follows the same logic — a structure with a rigorous, geometric design, refined down to the last detail.

Origata Bench: Monolithic Seat for Entrance Hall, Living Room and Lounge

The bench (single size W 200 × D 38 × H 38 cm) is available with or without a cushion, ideal for:

• Domestic or formal entrance hall: for sitting and as a surface to rest bags and coats
• Living room: against a wall, beneath a window or behind the sofa as an additional seat or surface
• Hotels, hospitality, retail: rooms, corridors and waiting areas where a continuous, clean seating solution is needed

The cushion is removable (not with a removable cover), fixed to the structure via a fabric loop and a metal rod: it preserves the formal rigour of the bench and adds comfort without weighing down the line.

Origata Console: The Essential Surface

The console (single size W 142 × D 35 × H 76 cm) is designed for entrance halls, corridors and living rooms.

• Entrance hall console: the ideal base for lamps, catchall trays and small art objects
• Light home office station: space for writing by hand or working on a laptop without the bulk of a traditional desk
• Living area: surface for books and meaningful objects, adapts to transitional spaces and focal wall points (including niches)
