The Tidal Collection of which Isle is part explores the symbiotic relationship between colors and shapes. When we design something, color is something we think about once we get to the end, but in this collection we started with the color that becomes the main element. A two-dimensional surface becomes three-dimensional as the color advances and creates movement, animation within the carpet. The designer himself, referring to his creations and his working method, says: “I always start with primary geometric shapes, such as circles, squares and rectangles, and I let the drawing transform them”. To create the monochromatic fade effect, CC-Tapis has devised a completely new coloring system, combining Himalayan wool threads in alternating saturations, in a laborious process that invokes a subtle meditation on color and shape.
