Febo Maxalto: A Chair That Carries the Memory of Design
The chair was designed in 2008 as a natural extension of the Febo family, the seating collection created by Antonio Citterio for Maxalto. The enveloping backrest, the soft silhouette and the sartorial care of the saddle stitch seams tell the story of a project where comfort is never separated from formal elegance. It is a chair that asserts itself with discretion: present, recognisable, able to dialogue with refined interiors without ever dominating the composition.
Three Versions, One Philosophy
The collection responds to different use cases and is organised by proportions across models, maintaining the stylistic coherence of the original design.
Classic Version: The Dining Chair Par Excellence
Classic proportions and outstanding comfort: the enveloping backrest supports the back without constraining it, and the generous seat ensures ease even through long, convivial dinners. Height 79 cm, seat at 48 cm from the floor — dimensions calibrated for standard dining tables. Available with or without armrests, with upholstered legs or solid oak in grey, light brushed, black brushed or natural wengé finishes.
Low Version: For the Lounge and Tea Table
The same Febo silhouette in more compact proportions: height 73 cm, seat at 41 cm, designed to accompany tea tables, low desks or informal lounge compositions. Also perfect at the foot of the bed or as seating in front of a dressing table in the bedroom.
High-Back Version: Architectural Presence
The tall backrest and more enveloping lines transform the Febo chair into a statement piece: height 90 cm, depth 62 cm — a silhouette that commands attention in an entrance hall, a formal dining room or a master bedroom. This is the version for those who want the chair to say something before you even sit down.
Construction: Quality You Feel the Moment You Sit Down
Why Choose Febo
When you choose the Febo chairs you are bringing home a superior level of craftsmanship. The padding doesn't compress over the years, the fabric upholstery is fully removable, and the saddle stitch seams are a sartorial detail. The chair works with a designer dining table, a desk, at the foot of the bed or in the entrance hall: this is not a chair for one room — it is a chair for the whole house.
The Whole Family
The chairs are part of a complete collection: you'll also find the sofa, the armchair and the Febo bed — to furnish entire living and sleeping areas with a coherent design language, signed Antonio Citterio for Maxalto. For coordinated orders across multiple pieces, we manage production, delivery and installation as a single service.
The chairs offer extensive personalisation: choose the version (classic, low or high-back), with or without armrests, fabric or leather upholstery, contrast or tone-on-tone stitching, solid wood or upholstered legs. Browse the technical sheet and contact us: our team is ready to guide you through the models and reserve an exclusive outlet price you won't find anywhere else.
FAQ Febo Chair Maxalto
Quick answers about upholstery, finishes and purchasing.
Is the chair upholstery removable?
It depends on the material chosen. Fabric upholstery is fully removable: you can wash it, replace it or change colour and fabric entirely over time. Leather upholstery is fixed (not removable), but it develops patina and character with use. Either way, it is an investment built to last.
What is "saddle stitch" and why is it a added value?
Saddle stitch (blanket stitch) borders the upholstery along the perimeters of the chair — backrest, seat, armrests. It is a sartorial technique typical of high-end leather goods and saddlery: it requires hand finishing and quality thread. Available in contrast or tone on tone on fabric; on leather also in relief versions (tone on tone only). It is the construction signature that runs through the entire collection.
Do the solid wood legs come in different finishes?
Yes. The solid oak legs are available in four finishes: grey, light brushed, black brushed and natural wengé. Alternatively, they can be upholstered in the same fabric or leather as the body of the chair for a fully enveloping single-material effect. Contact us to identify the solution that best suits your existing furniture.
What are the delivery times and shipping costs?
For configurations available from stock or on display, delivery is approximately 4–6 weeks. For personalised orders (fabric, leather, legs, wood finish) lead times vary according to Maxalto production schedules. Shipping costs depend on destination: contact us with your address for a transparent quote with no hidden charges.
