Container Table by Marcel Wanders
The collection was born in 2003 from the vision of Marcel Wanders, with an approach that unites poetry and intelligent engineering. A flexible identity that adapts to all spaces: informal and business dining alike. The project is built on a simple concept: a configurable system where you choose the base shape, the top shape and size, the material and finish.
Three Models, Endless Compositions
The base represents three distinct stylistic identities:
- Container Table Classic (H 71 cm or 106 cm): truncated cone form in PE polyethylene, minimal, available in white, black and light grey. Light to transport, stable once filled with sand or gravel.
- Container Table New Antiques (H 71 cm or 106 cm): shaped profile evoking column capitals, contemporary classical elegance, available in white, black and light grey. Coordinates with the Container New Antiques Stools launched in 2004.
- Container Table Bodhi: the Classic base is clad with a cover of solid oak slatted panels — an aesthetic and tactile evolution, more elegant, warm and material. Available in 6 oak finishes: black stained, cinnamon, grey, natural oil, wengé and white.
Shapes and Sizes: Round, Square, Oval
- Round: Ø 70 · 90 · 120 · 140 · 160 · 180 cm — natural conversation flow, perfect for informal dinners and meetings
- Square: 70×70 · 90×90 cm — suited for offices, meeting rooms, bars and restaurants
- Oval: 130×210 · 150×260 cm — classical elegance with generous length
Materials and Finishes: HPL · Oak · RAL Colour
- HPL (thickness 1.2 cm): suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, in white, black and grey. Scratch-resistant, waterproof, maintenance with a damp cloth. Ideal for intensive use and contract spaces.
- Oak Wood (thickness 4 cm): finishes Black · Cinnamon · Grey · Natural Oil · Wengé · White, or coloured RAL 9005 (jet black) / RAL 9016 (traffic white). Indoor use only — natural warmth and materiality.
Comparative Table of the Three Models

Integrated Connectivity: Power and USB in the Top
As a multifunctional table it can be fitted with a power module featuring two power sockets and a dual USB port (A+C) — a significant feature for contract spaces, offices and modern kitchens. The module is recessed into the top and invisible until you need it: open, use, close. No visible holes, no cables on the floor.
- Specification: 2 power sockets + 1 dual USB port (A+C) · available in Type F (Schuko Europe), Type B (USA), Type G (UK), in white or black
- Compatibility: available for round tops from Ø 120 cm upwards and for oval versions (210 and 260 cm); not available for square models and compact versions

FAQ Container Table Moooi
Your questions, our answers on models, materials and configurations.
What is the difference between Classic, New Antiques and Bodhi?
The difference lies in the base: Classic has a truncated cone form, minimalist, in white, black or light grey. New Antiques has a shaped profile inspired by column capitals, in the same colours as the Classic. Bodhi takes the Classic base and clads it with a solid oak cover in 6 finishes (Black · Cinnamon · Grey · Natural Oil · Wengé · White). The top is independent from the base and is configured separately across all three models.
Can I use the Container Table outdoors?
It depends on the configuration. The Classic and New Antiques PE base withstands rain, sun, humidity and temperature changes. The HPL top is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The oak wood top is for indoor use only. For a terrace or garden: choose an HPL top with a Classic or New Antiques base. The Bodhi, having an oak cover, is for indoor use.
How many people can sit around it?
It depends on the top diameter: Ø 120 cm → 4 people · Ø 140 cm → 6 people · Ø 160 cm → 8 people · Oval 130×210 cm → 10 people · Oval 150×260 cm → 12 people. Contact us to assess the specific seating capacity of your composition, also taking into account the type of chairs you wish to pair it with.
Which lamp and chair can I pair with the Container Table?
Yes. The natural pairings are with the Golden Chairs and the Container Stools (stylistically coordinated with Classic and New Antiques). For lighting above the table: Heracleum, Flock of Light, Raimond. Contact us for coordinated 3D renders and integrated consultation.
Is the USB/power module difficult to install? Do I need an electrician?
The power module is already integrated into the top at the time of delivery — it is not an accessory to be fitted afterwards. It requires no structural work or fixed cabling: it operates with a standard power cable connecting the module to a regular wall or floor socket. The only design consideration is to ensure a socket is available near the table prior to installation.
